Empowering Young Women to End Femicide

Our team at FHU engaged young women, both married and unmarried, in a crucial conversation about femicide. This event was part of our efforts to stand in solidarity with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25th) and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Creating Awareness and Promoting Prevention Our team facilitated a discussion on the causes and dangers of femicide, as well as strategies for prevention. We believe that educating young women about these issues is essential to empowering them to make informed decisions about their lives and to advocate for their rights.

Key Takeaways from the Event, Femicide is a serious issue that affects women and girls worldwide. More than 10 Femicide cases are reported every month in Uganda. Domestic violence, patriarchal societies, and economic inequality are some of the root causes of femicide. Education, awareness, and community engagement are critical to preventing femicide. Young women have the power to create change and promote a culture of non-violence.

A Call to Action We urge everyone to join us in the fight against femicide and gender-based violence. Together, we can create a safer, more equitable world for women and girls. #EndFemicide
